Okumaye Publishing undertakes marketing and distribution through
both Direct Distribution Network and Marketing Channels. At inception
of publishing - prior to qualifying as a small publishing company upon
publishing ten(10) books - the company printed and distributed through
Ingram and subsidiaries, which effectively provided the marketing
channels; however, upon becoming a small Traditional Publishing
Company, the company started the process of establishing Direct
Distribution Network in parallel with the Marketing Channels of
Ingram.
By the Channel services, the company positioned itself well as to have its books distributed through Ingram
Contents, Baker and Taylor, Barnes and Noble, Amazon and BooksAMillion,
and aggressively works with the Marketing Channels to ensure that the books
are being distributed by these
well-recognized globally respected distributors.
By the Direct Distribution
Network, the company hopes to establish parallel relationship with the
distributors already distribution for the company within the Marketing
Channels, as well as compile its own database of libraries, research
centers and bookstores to sell directly to for onward distribution of
its books.
Most significantly about the Direct
distribution Network, the company gets to create the
potential of finding shelf-space in some bookstores. Shelf-spaces, of
course, as well known is crucial to the effective sales of books,
because as the psychology book purchasing suggests, readers generally
buy books on bonding with the books resulting from having the chance
to pick-up the book from shelves in bookstore and to hold, read, and
develop a feel for the book.
